WELCOME TO THE ROYAL SCHOOL

The Royal School is the only school in Surrey to follow the ‘diamond teaching model'.

This means co-education at the youngest ages, single sex through the Prep department to GCSEs then a co-educational Sixth Form.

We are a mixed ability, non selective school providing an education that results in confident, independent, adventurous children whose qualities and qualifications enable them to excel.

Our environment delivers results:

2012 league tables (Department for Education) placed The Royal School close to the top:

Top 3 girls’ school in Surrey for average A level score per student (top 5 overall).

Top 5 girls’ school in Surrey for GCSE results (A*-C including Maths & English).

The Royal School has been in the top 2% for value-added education since 2003.

How do we achieve such great results with a mixed ability intake? We believe the route to healthy self-esteem is through personal success and recognition, whether this occurs in the classroom, on the sports field, or in social service, art, music or drama. Our excellent teaching, differentiated to suit all abilities, combined with a busy extra-curricular programme that offers the opportunity for personal fulfilment, results in confident, engaged learners.

The Confidence to Succeed

We believe that every child has the potential to be a high achiever. Experience tells us that most children learn more through encouragement than pressure. Relationships are central to the growth of personal and academic confidence.

Our approach yields impressive academic results: in 2011 league tables GCSE grades were best in the county and top A Level grades were double the national average. Moreover, The Royal School is in the top 2% nationally for value-added education.

We welcome children of widely varying ability. We recognise that every child is different and tailor our teaching methods to each pupil’s needs. Small class sizes allow us to offer individual attention and to create an environment where learning comes naturally.

The outcome? Pupils who actively enjoy the process of acquiring knowledge.
